Looking for a new horror movie on Netflix? Not me, because you know I can’t stand scary stuff. But I know a lot of you love them!
We know a horror film in which Andra Day plays a mother whose children are haunted by an invisible evil. Ooo!!
We see Deco’s Alex Miranda. The hungrier he gets, the meaner he becomes. Are you hungry?
Girls, I’m hungry for human flesh. Just kidding, I’m not that hungry, but maybe in a few hours. Back to the movie.
Hey, anyone can tell you to go to hell. But the people in Everyone’s First to Die can tell you and even give you the address.
Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor (as Rev. Bernice James): “Remember before we begin, whatever it tells you, don’t listen to it. It will touch your heart, it will touch your mind.”
They say possession is nine-tenths of the law.
Glenn Close (as Alberta): “Chantay, what happened?”
Demi Singleton (as Chantay): “I woke up on the floor.”
But the people in “Everyone is First to Die” don’t want to know anything about that. The Netflix thriller is about a family that is terrorized by an evil force.
Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor (as Rev Bernice James): “And one of those demons found its way into your baby. And through him, he took possession of the other two.”
Andra Day is the mother who tries to protect her children from danger.
Andra Day: “There were some issues in my own life that I had to kind of dig up and resolve to bring to the character, otherwise she wouldn’t have been complete. And then it was just Lee and I discussing everything about Ebony. Where she comes from, her past, the dynamic between her and her mother, you know, trying to save these children.”
Director Lee Daniels had nothing but praise for the actors who played the demon-possessed people.
Lee Daniels: “All three were just spectacular and –.”
Andra Day: “Demi.”
Lee Daniels: “Demi, it’s just that, yes, working with all three of them was spectacular. And I look forward to working with all of them again.”
Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor (as Rev. Bernice James): “And look, right now you are weak, but we will make you strong.”
Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor is the only one who can get rid of the demonic spirits and says that the film is not just about possession, but also about how a woman gets rid of her demons.
Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor: “Ebony is a woman who is already going through trauma before the demons come into the room. You know her sense of failure as a mother, how she deals with her addictions, the problems she has with her children, and you get to know that part of her.”
Glenn Close also plays Andra’s mother in the film.
“The Deliverance” hits Netflix on Friday, September 3rd.
