Sunny Hostin once openly expressed her opinion about a former co-host who made negative comments about her experience on the popular show The View. Hostin spoke openly about her feelings on the situation.
According to Deadline, she expressed her disappointment over the matter in a conversation with Us Weekly in May. The former prosecutor explained, “If I’m honest, I’m always surprised when people talk negatively about our show.”
She added, “We had 27 years, we had maybe 24 co-hosts, and you were part of a sisterhood, and that’s really special.” Hostin mentioned that she is still in touch with Sherri Shepherd, Candace Cameron Bure and Paula Faris, who visited the show back in the day. She also noted that Cameron Bure sent her a bottle of wine from her vineyard, according to Deadline.
Hostin explained that despite their different views, they were all “close,” adding that they left those differences “on the table.” She expressed surprise when someone said they didn’t like a person, stressing that it was never “personal” and that everyone enters the show with that understanding.
Although she did not name names, it is common knowledge that former co-hosts such as Rosie O’Donnell and Meghan McCain have publicly shared negative experiences with the show.
Hostin also recalled that when Barbara Walters joined The View, she made it clear that the debates on the show were not meant to be personal – something Whoopi Goldberg still emphasizes regularly.
Hostin continued this tradition, advising co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin that although they would argue on the show, they would still go out for martinis afterward and everything would be “okay.”
Hostin explained that the co-hosts have conversations about topics such as mental health, divorce, weight loss, weight gain and their families. She added, “Imagine leaving the stage and it’s not a safe place. That would be an impossible job.”
Following McCain and O’Donnell’s comments on the show, a huge controversy erupted as the issue quickly drew the attention of the masses to the show. The View became one of the top topics of discussion among internet users.
